Frank Hornsby was born in Leeds, Yorkshire, England and living in Harris, Saskatchewan when he joined the 65th (Saskatchewan) Battalion CEF in Saskatoon in February, 1916. He was transferred to the 54th (Kootenay) Battalion in England and proceeded to France in August, 1916. He served on the Western Front with the battalion for 34 months until the end of the Great War.
