Short biography from De Ruvigny's Roll of Honour:
Lindsay, Alexander Cameron. 1/9th Battalion Royal Scots (TF) son of the late William Lindsay, Clothier, by his wife, Jane (55 Montpelier Park, Edinburgh), daughter of Alexander Cameron. Born Edinburg 18 August, 1895; educated George Heriot's School; joined the Royal Scots after the outbreak of war, September 1914. Went to France 23 February, 1915 and was killed in action during the Second Battle of Ypres, 23 April, 1915, while helping a wounded schoolfellow after being twice wounded himself. Buried near St Jean, two and a half miles N. E. of Ypres.
Private Lindsay is commemorated on the Menin Gate Memorial.
The medal shows irregular naming with multiple letters being overstruck.
