WWI Victory Medal named to: 3091378 PTE. H. METZ. C.S.E.F.
Herbert Metz was born in Blackpool, England and living in Plainfield, New Jersey when he enrolled in the CEF in Montreal in September, 1918. He served as a rifleman in the 259th Battalion in Siberia and returned to Canada with the battalion in 1919. A note on his medal card indicates his BWM and Victory were later claims (1932) and that he was issued medals which had previously been named to another soldier which were never claimed. Medal is on an attractive suspension of presumably American origin.
