WWI Victory Medal named to: LIEUT. G. N. HUGHES

Garnet Nelson Hughes was born in Picton, Ontario. He obtained his pilot qualification at Toronto in October, 1915. He joined the Royal Naval Air Service in Toronto in November 1915. He was twice injured in accidents in the UK and eventually released as medically unfit in November, 1916. Undeterred, he joined the CEF in the UK in December, 1916 seeing service in France with the Canadian Army Service Corps. Scarce medal to an early Canadian aviator.
