Harry Eugene Bleakney was born in Hillsboro, New Brunswick. He joined the 104th Battalion CEF at Sussex, NB in November, 1915. He was wounded (shrapnel) on 31 August, 1918. Drafted to the 123rd Pioneer Battalion, he served with that unit in France until transferred to the Canadian Engineers in May, 1918.
