WWI Victory Medal named to: CAPT. W. E. JAMES.

William Elgin James was born in Brampton, Ontario. An engineer by profession and living in Edmonton, he was a member of the 101st Edmonton Fusiliers (Canadian Militia) when he joined the 63rd Battalion CEF at Edmonton in July, 1915 and granted a commission to Lieutenant. He was transferred to the 5th Battalion CEF and served with the battalion at the front. He was wounded (SW head) in September, 1916. James was awarded the Military Cross for conspicuous gallantry (see attached citation) in November, 1916. He was seconded to the Royal Flying Corps as a pilot and served with 123 Squadron in the closing months of the war. He appears to have continued his military service (Canadian Militia) into at least the late 1920s. Worthy of significant further research.
