Herbert Victor Baker was born in Wakefield, England. A member of the Canadian Militia (6th Duke of Connaught's Own Regiment) he joined the 47th Battalion CEF (British Columbia) at Vernon, BC in September, 1915. He served on the Western Front with the battalon from August, 1916 and survived the war.
