Alex Godrey Robertson was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He had 11 years previous service in the Queen's Own Rifles when he joined the 83rd Battalion CEF (Queen's Own Rifles) at Toronto in August, 1915. Clearly a devoted member of the regiment, he had a QOR badge tattoo on his left forearm. Robertson served in France with the 3rd Battalion and was eventually discharged as medically unfit.
