Eugene Francis Smith was born in Stanbridge, Quebec and had 3 1/2 years service in the 13th Scottish Light Dragoons (Canadian Militia) when he joined the 32nd Battalion CEF at Winnipeg, Manitoba in December 1914. He was transferred to the 2nd Battalion and served with them at the front, being wounded in September, 1916. He was invalided back to Canada suffering from tuberculosis and died in 1919.
