Victory Medal (406455 Sjt. A. Russell. 1-CAN. INF.)
Archibald Russell was born in Gateshead on Tyne, England and had previous service in the Imperial Forces. He was a member of the 44th Welland Regiment (Canadian Militia) when he joined the 36th Battalion CEF at Hamilton in April, 1915. He served on the Western Front with the 1st Battalion CEF. Initially listed as wounded, and later wounded and missing, he was eventually reported as having died on or after 3 May, 1917. Having no known grave, he is commemorated on the Vimy Memorial.
