WWI Victory Medal named to: 1045801 A. SJT. M. T. SECKEL. 15-CAN. INF.
Mortimer Theo Seckel was born in London, England to a Jewish family. He had served for 4 years in the Officers' Training Corps in England before he immigrated to Canada. He joined the 241st Battalion CEF (Canadian Scottish Borderers) at Windsor, Ontario in March, 1917. He served overseas in the 15th Battalion (48th Highlanders of Canada) and was awarded the Military Medal for bravery. (see photos for his citation). He survived the war and appears to have returned to England at some point as he had WWII service as an officer in the Royal Artillery. Worthy of much more research.
