WWI Victory Medal named to: 142477 PTE. L. HAMMOND 13-CAN. INF.
Lorne Hammond was born in Hamilton, Ontario and joined the 37th Battalion CEF there in October, 1915. The medical officer's remarks seem to indicate that he was underage (16) but it appears that he was accepted into service nonetheless. He was transferred to the 13th Battalion CEF (Royal Highlanders of Canada) and served with that battalion in France and Flanders. Hammond was wounded in June, 1916 (GSW right arm, fractured) and invalided and discharged in Canada being permanently unfit for further service.
