George Rigby Layhe was born in Prescot, Lancashire, England and had prior service in the Royal Field Artillery. He was living in Wellington, British Columbia when he joined the 1st Pioneer Battalion, CEF in Vancouver in November, 1915. He served with the Battalion in France until he was invalided to England with an injury to his knee. Sold with original medal transmittal box.
