Leonard Hallott Marsh was born in Canterbury, England and living in Reaboro, Ontario when he joined the 109th Battalion (Victoria & Haliburton) in March 1916. He had 4 years, 7 months previous service in the 9th Queen’s Royal Lancers in England and South Africa. He joined the 38th Battalion (Ottawa) in France in December 1916 and was killed in action on the first day of the Battle of Vimy Ridge – 9 April 1917.
