George Herbert Bishop was born in London, England. He was living in Montreal and working as a manager when he joined the CEF in April, 1916. He stated he was a member of the Canadian Militia (4th Field Company, Canadian Engineers). Overseas he served in the 5th Pioneer battalion and the 3rd Battalion Canadian Railway Troops.
