British War Medal, Victory Medal named to: 2250950 SJT. J.L. MACBRAYNE. C.F.A. Russia, Cross of St. George 4th Class numbered: 123456
James Lockie MacBrayne was born in Varna, Huron County, Ontario and living in New Liskeard when he joined the Militia District 2 Forestry Draft of the CEF in Sudbury in May, 1917. He arrived in England in July, 1917 and was subsequently transferred from the Forestry Corps to the Artillery. In August, 1918 he was taken on strength by the "Syren Party" Regimental Depot Group. He was promoted to Serjeant in September, 1918 and proceeded to North Russia in that same month, disembarking at Murmansk on 28 September. Details of his service in North Russia are scant - as is typical, with much documentation being lost in theatre.
Medals are swing mounted for wear along with the ribbon for the Russian Cross of St. George. The Russian medal itself is loose. The medals are accompanied by a CFA cap and collar badges and Canada shoulder titles.
