British War Medal, Victory Medal named to: 457103 L.CPL. W. BRYSON. 60-CAN. INF.

William Bryson was born in Glasgow, Scotland and a machinist by trade. He was living in Montreal and a member of the 5th Royal Highlanders of Canada when he joined the 60th Battalion (Victoria Rifles) CEF in June, 1915. He proceeded to France with the battalion in February, 1916. He was wounded (GSW to thigh) in May, 1916 and invalided to England. Returning to his battalion in September, 1916 his health quickly deteriorated (Chronic Bronchitis) and he was again invalided, first to the UK and subsequently to Canada to receive further medical treatment. His condition and eventual death in 1952 was determined to be aggravated due to his service. However, as he was unmarried and his mother had predeceased him, no Canadian Memorial Cross was issued. His BWM and VM are sold with the original transmittal box, his Class A (scarce early CPF 1915-16 type) and Class B (SWB) service badges, 60th Battalion cap badge, and engraved ID bracelet a Great War Veterans' lapel pin.
