William Connors was born in Boston, Massachusetts, USA. He joined the 2nd Canadian Pioneer Battalion CEF in Toronto in September, 1915. He proceeded to France with the battalion in March, 1916. In November, 1917 he was promoted Sergeant and appointed Acting Company Sergeant Major when transferred to the Light Railway Construction Batttalion (later re-named the 2nd Tramways Company). His service record indicates he was gassed at Vimy in 1917. Connors was awarded the MSM (London Gazette 31132) 18 January, 1919. He was discharged in Toronto in March, 1919.
