11428 Sergeant George Bernard Dentler was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. He served with the 6th (Service) Battalion Loyal North Lancashire Regiment. His date of entry into Theatre 2b (Balkans) is recorded as 15 June 1915 - thus he fought with the Battalion in Gallipoli at Anzac cove and Suvla Bay, before being evacuated. In February 1916 the battalion was sent to relieve the besieged garrison at Kut as part of Tigris Corps. The battalion participated in the Battle of Fallahiya on 6 April 1916 and Battle of Sanniyat on 9 April 1916. Dentler was recorded as missing 2 January 1917. Having no known grave, he is commemorated on the Basra Memorial, Iraq.
