WWI Victory Medal nameda to: 43955 SGT. C.F. Tomney. C.F.A.
William Ford Tomney served overseas in the 24th Battalion and was wounded in October, 1918. His brother, Charles Ford Tomney, joined the CEF in 1914 and served the duration of the war with the CFA and CASC. Charles' VM shows as being officially corrected (documented in his service file) on his rank of SGT. Presumably the medals were originally impressed with a lower rank.
