British War Medal, Victory Medal named to: 141132 A.SJT. E.H.J. TEAGUE, 4-CAN.INF.
Edward Henry John Teague was born in Bristol, England. He had previous service in the Canadian Militia (2 years in the 91st Highlanders and 7 years in the 2nd Oxford Light Infantry. He joined the 76th Battalion CEF at Hamilton in July, 1915. Transferred, to the 4th Battalion, he served with that unit on the Western Front until severely wounded in the head and hand on 12 December, 1916 – losing a portion of his skull and being rendered unconscious for 3 days. He was invalided first to England and then back to Canada, permanently medically unfit for further service and with significant disabilities for the rest of his life. Edward Teague passed away in 1952. His service file makes for an interesting if sobering read.
His brother, Albert Victor Teague, was killed in action on 3 October, 1915, serving with the 6th Battalion The Queen's Own (Royal West Kent) Regiment.
