British War Medal (142717 PTE. H. J. MAKINSON. 76-CAN. INF), Victory Medal (engraved as per BWM), Colonial Auxiliary Forces Long Service and Good Conduct Medal (MAKINSON 2/10 DGNS.), Efficiency Medal (MAKINSON 2/10 DGNS)

Harold Joseph Makinson was born in Walsh, Norfolk County, Ontario in 1896. He belonged to the 2nd Dragoons of the Canadian Militia and was residing in Hamilton, Ontario when he attested to the 4th Canadian Mounted Rifles. Makinson suffered from Tuberculosis and was eventually found unfit for further service. However, he was clearly a very determined person, and repeatedly attempted to serve overseas, having no fewer than five attestation papers with various units in his service record. He eventually made it to England and served there for some time until being returned to Canada due to his health. Undeterred, he again volunteered and served the remainder of the war in Canada. Makinson remained in the militia in the inter-war period, earning both the Colonial Auxiliary Forces Long Service and Good Conduct Medal and the Efficiency medal. His service was with the 2nd (and 2/10th) Dragoons, and the Royal Hamilton Light Infantry. WWII service???
