Philip Walter Edges was born in Stepney, London, Middlesex. He joined the regular army in 1903 and was serving in the 3rd Royal West Surrey's (Militia) at that time. He was killed in action serving with the 1st Queen's (Royal West Surrey) Regiment on October 31st, 1914. He is commemorated on the Menin Gate Memorial.
