WWI British War Medal named to: S. LT. A. C. HAMILTON. R.N.V.R
Alexander Cowie Hamilton was from Clydebank, Scotland. He initially joined the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve as an Ordinary Seaman (Clyde Z/1633) and progressed up the ranks to Chief Petty Officer, until being granted a commission. As a Sub-Lieutenant, he was assigned to the 188th Brigade Machine Gun Company. Initially reported as missing, he was later reported killed in action on November 13th, 1916. He is buried in Ancre British Cemetery, Beaumont Hamel, France.
