WWI British War Medal named to: 132790 A. L. CPL. S. FLETCHER. 73-CAN. INF.
Sydney Fletcher was born in Maidenhead, England. An original member of the 73rd Battalion (Royal Highlanders of Canada) CEF, he attested in Montreal in September, 1915. He proceeded to France with the battalion and was reported wounded 8 January, 1917. Fletcher was killed in action 9 April, 1917 - the first day of the Battle of Vimy Ridge.
