WWI Victory Medal named to: CAPT. I. D. M. HOGG. 

Captain Ivan Dayrell Meredith Hogg was born in London, England on 2 April, 1884.  He was the third and youngest son of Lieutenant General Sir Adam George Forbes Hogg, KCB, and Elizabeth Maria Chevallier Hogg (daughter of Harry Teverson Purkis, of Abbot's Hall, Sturmer, Essex), of Cromer House, Brentwood, Essex. He married Bridget Eyre Lloyd (youngest daughter of William Henry Lloyd, of Droitwich) on 28 Dec 1911 at the Cathedral in Allahabad, Bengal, India. Educated United Services College, Westward Ho!, Devon. Gentleman Cadet at the Royal Military College, Sandhurst. Commissioned into the Indian Army (unattached list) as a 2nd Lieutenant on 21 Jan 1903. He spent his probationary year with the 2nd Battalion the Oxfordshire Light Infantry and then the 1st Battalion the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, in India. He was posted to the 101st Grenadiers on 8 Apr 1904. Promoted to Lieutenant on 21 Apr 1905 and to Captain on 21 Jan 1912. He was stationed with his battalion in Bangalore (Karnataka), India when WW1 started. They were mobilised and sent to East Africa as part of the Indian Expeditionary Force B, to protect the lines of communication. They took part in the disastrous attack at Tanga, German East Africa, 3-5 Nov 1914. Major Tatus was one of those killed. He is commemorated on the Tanga Memorial Cemetery, Tanga, Tanzania.

He is also commemorated on the United Services College Roll of Honour in the Holy Trinity Church, Westward Ho!, Torridge, Devon (see: https://www.iwm.org.uk/memorials/item/memorial/45916).

He is missing from the Haileybury College Roll of Honour covering the United Services College (see: https://www.hailsoc.org/roll-of-honour - The United Services College was absorbed by the larger Imperial Service College in 1906, which in turn merged with Haileybury in 1942 to become Haileybury and Imperial Service College) .
