Lipscombe served as the Chief Cook aboard HMSC Niobe and remained in the RNCVR for the duration of the war.

The 1914-15 Star appears to be officially corrected. The area of the naming on the reverse has been filed and re-impressed in the correct style characteristic for Stars awarded to Canadian naval recipients. Likely a mistake was made during naming due to the long surname and rank, and the medal re-impressed immediately with the proper details.
