Augustus Rupert Knight was born in Quebec City, Quebec and had served over three years with the 8th Royal Rifles of Canada when he joined the CEF in January, 1915. Originally joining the 12th Battalion, he was transferred to the 15th Battalion (48th Highlanders of Canada) and proceeded with them to France. He was severely wounded in October 1915 but managed to return to the front, this time serving with the Canadian Army Service Corps in various units until he returned to Canada and was discharged from the CEF. He passed away in 1966 in Tampa, Florida, USA.
