Alexander Gibb was born in Chester, England. He had one year previous service in the 5th Royal Scots of the Canadian Militia and was living in Montreal when he joined the 3rd Canadian Battalion CEF at Valcartier in September, 1914. He was wounded and taken prisoner 24 April, 1915 during the Second Battle of Ypres and spent the remainder of the war in POW camps in Germany. Scarce Canadian POW group.
