1914-15 Star (Lieut. E. W. Bulteel. R.N.)
Lieutenant Edward Wynter Bulteel, born November 1886; posted to H.M.S. Britannia (Training Ship), 15.1.1902; Commissioned Midshipman, H.M.S. Sutlej, 18.7.1903; Sub Lieutenant, 15.10.1906; served in H.M.S. Sutlej 12.5.1908-9.3.1909 during which time he participated in the rescue operations after the Messina Earthquake, 28.12.1908, and was one of the men from the Navy who landed from the Ships to give assistance; Lieutenant, 30.6.1909; appointed to the command of H.M. Torpedo Boat 12, 1.8.1914; killed in action when T.B. 12 was torpedoed by the German Submarine U21 under the command of Commander Otto Hersing in the North Sea, 10.6.1915, and is buried in St. Mary´s Churchyard, Shotley, Suffolk.
