A Delhi Durbar 1911 Medal named to: LT. T. D. SHAFTO. ROYAL FUSILIERS
Thomas Duncome Shafto was born in Ham, Surrey in 1886. He was a member of the prominent Shafto family of Surrey (Beamish Hall). He was present at the Delhi Durbar of 1911 as a Lieutenant in the 2nd Battalion, Royal Fusiliers. His battalion landed at Gallipoli in April, 1915 at which time he was the battalion Adjutant. He was killed in action on May 5th, 1915 and is buried in Redoubt Cemetery, Helles.
