Eldon Venasse was born in Chichester, Quebec. He joined the Canadian Army Special Force at Ottawa in August, 1950. He proceeded to Calgary later that month, joining the 2nd Battalion, PPLCI with whom he underwent some training in Wainright, Alberta. He then proceeded to Fort Lewis, Washington, USA and was transferred to the 3rd Battalion, PPCLI in November, 1950. Following some additional training in Wainright, he proceeded to Korea with the 2nd Battalion, arriving there in June, 1951. He was struck off strength to the X-3 list in July 1951, returning to the battalion in September. He appears to have transferred to the 1st Battalion, PPCLI in Korea in November, 1951. Venasse was discharged in Ottawa in 1952.
