George Hamilton Dawson was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, 28 September 1902 and immigrated to Canada in 1921. He was employed as a consulting engineer in a civilian capacity, having worked for a number of Canadian companies since the 1920s. Dawson joined the RCNVR in June 1942 and served through the war mainly at Naval Headquarters working with the Director of Naval Stores and the Director of Electrical Stores. He remained in service after the war as a member of the Royal Canadian Navy (Reserve) with HMCS Bytown / HMCS Carleton until his discharge in 1961. He was awarded his Canadian Forces Decoration in 1954. Dawson passed away in Ottawa in 1987.
