Lionel Henry Dunsdon was born in Reading, Berkshire, England in 1905. He was living in Napanee, Ontario and had previous service in the 9th Field Brigade, RCA (Canadian Militia) when he joined the Canadian Active Service Force in August, 1941. He served in Italy and France with the 2nd Medium Regiment, RCA and was mentioned in despatches for service in Italy. He ended the war as a Captain and continued to serve in the Canadian Militia post-war, being awarded the Canadian Forces Decoration in 1958.
