Sold with original discharge certificate, certificate of permission to marry dated July 1945, his original military will, some Allied Military Currency from Italy, recipient's WWII shoulder titles, cap badge, overseas service stripes, two sets of wartime ribbon bars, some newspaper clippings and other items.
Jack Gilbert Snelling was born in Toronto, Ontario in 1923. Prior to the war he worked for the Kodak film company. He joined the Canadian army in 1942 intending to serve in the Provost Corps as he hoped to join the police after the war. However, he was assigned to the Canadian Armoured Corps and qualified as a driver of both wheeled and tracked vehicles. He joined the 8th Princess Louise's (New Brunswick) Hussars / 5th Armoured Regiment and served with them throughout the Italian Campaign as well as in France and Germany in 1945.
Jack Snelling passed away in 1994. Sold with an electronic copy of his WWII and later service file, which will be emailed to the buyer.
