Harold Marland Andrews was born in Tavistock, England. Prior to joining the 179th Battalion CEF at Winnipeg in November 1915, he served in the 79th Cameron Highlanders of Canada, Canadian Militia. He served overseas in the 43rd Battalion and was wounded (GSW elbow) in May 1917 at Vimy Ridge.
