Canadian – WWI – Memorial Plaque – 5th Canadian Mounted Rifles – Emile Benoit

417003 Private Emile Benoit was born in Trois Rivieres, Quebec. He attested to the 57th Battalion (Canadien-Français) of the CEF at Trois Rivieres in September 1915. He was transferred to the 5th Canadian Mounted Rifles and joined the battalion in France in June 1916. He was reported missing in action on 1-2 October 1916 during the attack on Regina Trench, and was later presumed to have died on or since then. It was ultimately determined that he was killed in action between 1 and 2 October and is buried in Regina Trench Cemetery, France.
