British War Medal named: G. E. Baker

Gertrude Eleanor Baker was born in Maine, USA in 1878. She studied nursing at Boston College. Her service during the First World War was initially with the Harvard Medical Unit. She later joined the Canadian Army Medical Corps and saw further service before the war’s end. She passed away in 1936 – a digital photo of her grave is attached here. Clearly proud of her service her memorial is inscribed with the names of the units she served with.
