British War Medal named: 1489X J. J. Saunders

John James Saunders was from Newfoundland (difficult to read the town name on his paperwork). He enrolled in the Royal Naval Reserve on 16 December 1914. He initially served in HMS Calypso, a screw corvette of 1887 sent to Newfoundland to use as a training vessel and later renamed HMS Briton. He served in various ships during the war and a notation on his file indicates he transferred to RNR (Trawlers) as a Deck Hand.
