James Alexander Colgan was born in Hamilton, Ontario and working as a stenographer when he attested to the 77th Battery, Canadian Field Artillery at Toronto in May 1918. Upon his arrival in England, he was transferred to the 2nd Canadian Tank Battalion. He was discharged in Toronto in March 1919. He immigrated to the USA in 1922 and settled in East Cleveland, Cuyahoga, Ohio where he worked as a printer. He registered for US military service in 1942 but it is unknown if he saw any overseas service. Colgan passed away in Cuyahoga in 1966.
