Chief Petty Officer (SPTI) Ian Herdman Taylor was born in Ardrossan, Scotland 19 February 1925. He served in the Royal Navy during the Second World War and continued to serve in the Post-War era. Taylor passed away 22 June 1973 in Nottingham, England. He was awarded the British Empire Medal (Military Division) in1963. (AFO 1139/63). This medal is known to be extant. He has an entry on Ancestry which features numerous photos of him, including several in uniform. In one of the photos he is shown receiving an award from HRH Queen Elizabeth II.
