Christopher Edmund Benson White served in the Royal Artillery during the Second World War and was Mentioned in Despatches for services in Burma and the Eastern Frontier of India in 1943 (LG 16 December 1943). He later transferred to the Royal Signals, viz:  
ROYAL CORPS OF SIGNALS. Short Serv. Commn. Capt. C. E. (B. WHITE (140402) from Active List to fee Capt., 9th Oct. 1954 retaining his present seniority.
