Major David Charles Innes-Ker was born in London in 1917. He was the son of Lieutenant Colonel Lord Alastair Robert Innes-Ker, DSO, CVO, Royal Horse Guards, who was decorated for his service during the Boer War and was Equerry-in-Ordinary to HM King George V between 1930 and 1936 and himself the son of James Henry Robert Innes-Ker the 7th Duke of Roxburghe.
Whilst serving as a Lance Bombardier, David Charles Innes-Ker was granted a commission in the Royal Artillery in 1939. During his wartime service he was Mentioned in Despatches for service in Italy (LG 11 January 1945). He was awarded his Efficiency Medal in 1947.
There is much information about him and his family available online and great scope for additional research. His grandmother was part of the Spencer-Churchill family.
