227177 Privatre John Baxendale was from Oswaldwistle, Lancashire. He served in the South Lancashire Regiment and was transferred to the 1^st Battalion Monmouthshire Regiment with whom he was killed in action 29 June 1917. He is buried in Loos British Cemetery, France. Note: Plaque inscribed Bakendale in error – no man of this surname in SDGW or CWGC
