William Matson Hill was born in Reigate, Surrey, England in 1895. He served with the 4th (attached 7th) Buffs and received his commission in January 1916. He survived the war and went on to work as a civil servant in the Department of Overseas Trade. He passed away in Hailsham, Sussex in 1967.
