British War Medal (10965 Pte. H. J. Seddon. Durh. L. I.)
Henry James Seddon was a Regular Army soldier, who joined the 1st Battalion Durham Light Infantry in 1910. The battalion was posted to India and remained there throughout the First World War. Seddon appears to have been one of the men who remained with his battalion vs proceeding to France in one of the many drafts. His pension file survives and indicates that he contracted Malaria during his service in India and Persia. He was invalided to England on account of his illness.
