Walter Crisp was born in Sheffield, Yorkshire in 1895. He joined the army 13 August 1913. He disembarked in France 13 November 1914 with the 2nd Battalion York and Lancaster Regiment. He was transferred to the Northumberland Fusiliers in October 1916 with service number 31171. He was discharged in 1917 due to wounds and was additionally awarded the Silver War Badge (SWB). He passed away in Sheffield in January 1964.
