1914 Star (7101 Pte. F. Blunt. 1/W. York: R.), British War Medal, Victory Medal (7101 W.O. Cl 2. F. Blunt W. York. R.)

Frank Blunt disembarked in France with the 1st Battalion West Yorkshire Regiment on 8 September 1914. He later transferred into the 61st Battalion, Machine Gun Corps (Bradford) with service number 14456 and was promoted to Warrant Officer Second Class. Blunt was awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal (LG 3 September 1919). His citation is as follows:

14456 C./S./M. F. Blunt, 61st Bn., M.G.
Corps (Bradford).
He has served with this 'battalion for the
last seven months. During this period he
has proved himself a most capable and
efficient Warrant Officer. He has at all
times showed fearless initiative and devotion
to duty, particularly during February and
March of this year, when, owing to Section
Officers becoming casualties, he had for many
days to command different sections. His
personal gallantry and untiring efforts are a
fine example to all.
