1914-15 Star, BWM, Victory named to: 22252 Pte. O. Hill. Gren. Gds. Memorial Plaque named: Oswald Hill

Oswald Francis Hill served in the 3rd Battalion Grenadier Guards. He was the son of Oliver and Jane Hill, of Owlswick, Monks Risborough, Bucks. Hill was killed in action on 19 November 1915 when the battalion was in trenches just north of Neuve Chapelle, and is commemorated on the Loos Memorial.

His medals and plaque are sold with the original receipts for his 1914-15 Star and BWM/VM as well as 3 original photo postcards of his brother - Charles William Hill who served in the Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry (and later in the Worcestershire Regiment).

Accompanying this group is a significant amount of research and copied correspondence that was found online. This includes two photos of Oswald Hill in Grenadier Guards uniform (those depicted here are in electronic format only) as well as numerous letters and postcards sent by and to him. Among these are letters to his mother, some postcards from "Violet" who appears to have been his sweetheart and other from an aunt Emily. The digital photos of Hill are shown here. Copies of these will be forwarded to the purchaser by email.

A poignant and emotive casualty group with much additional research potential.
