Herbert Charles Hobart disembarked in France with the 1st Battalion Duke of Cornwall's Light Infantry on 13 July 1915. He served with the battalion until being killed in action on 18 April 1917 during the Battle of Arras. Having no known grave, he is commemorated on the Arras Memorial.
